Het wensdenken voorbij?

Om de achteruitgang van Europees beschermde soorten en habitats te stoppen is het, in aanvulling op de ontwikkeling van het Natuurnetwerk Nederland (NNN), nodig dat in het aangrenzende agrarische gebied meer natuurinclusief wordt geboerd. Rijk en provincies zetten tot nu toe vooral in op het stimuleren en ondersteunen van ondernemers die een dergelijke bedrijfsvoering wel zien zitten. Maar is dit wel toereikend, of is er sprake van wensdenken over wat er van landbouwbedrijven kan worden verwacht?

In order to halt the decline of species and habitats of the Nature Network Netherlands, it is widely deemed necessary for agriculture to become more nature inclusive. The question is whether the activities of provinces to pursue this are fitting with regards to the challenges that are constituted by how the agricultural sector is constituted and how it is developing. The development of farms is largely contrary to a further integration of nature and agriculture and this is even the case for areas adjacent to the nature network. It is concluded that given the structure and the dominant development path of agriculture, the current stimulating activities are insufficient to this end. In order to achieve better, attention is needed for systemic aspects, for initiating and maintaining dynamics of change and for coordination between central government and territorial stakeholder processes.
